Cheep Tricks or Chip Tricks
You’ve seen people doing it a thousand times on the felt while playing poker, chip tricks. I’m sure you wonder why this is done other than the fact that maybe people are bored and just feel like playing with their casino online chips. Well, there are two reasons really that stand out aside from the ego trip people that do chip tricks get as to why they flourish their chip handling ability. Imagine this situation, you see one guy snap out five chips in an almost reflexive motion and with one finger topple the stack into the pot. Then you see this guy who’s over there fumbling with his chips counting them out and then clumsily throwing them in the pot. Who has a better poker online table image? Who seems to have been on the felt longer? Exactly, guy number one. What this chip handling says is “I’m a veteran. I’ve been on the felt long enough and had enough chips to be able to learn these tricks.” The latter guy, well he’s projecting with his body language that he’s not used to having that amount of chips, that it’s new to him to be able to bet like that. It shows inexperience. So there you have it. The two reasons to do or learn chip tricks. One is for the simple intimidation factor. If you have that finesse in handling your chips, you’re possibly going to intimidate a newer player. And you do it for your own image. You do it to show the others around you that you’re no novice. So the next time you see someone doing chip tricks, think about this and watch for the other guy at the table who’s fumbling his chips, and then at the end of the session come back and tell me who was the better, more seasoned player.
